Our Mandate
- Formulate and co-ordinate a state policy on education
- Collect and collate data for purposes of education Planning and Financing
- Prescribe and maintain uniform standard of education throughout the State
- Control and monitor the quality of education in the State
⦁ Provide access to quality education for all eligible citizens in the state.
⦁ Maintaining uniform standards of education throughout the state.
⦁ To ensure conducive teaching and learning environment in schools’ structures, teaching materials and equipment.
⦁ To provide qualified teachers and their continued training and re-training.
⦁ To ensure that schools are child friendly in terms of sporting, recreational, health care, water and sanitation materials.
⦁ To ensure constant inspection and monitoring of schools for Quality Assurance.
⦁ To cater for staff and student’s welfare as to maintain discipline.
⦁ Conduct and manage the state wide examinations into secondary schools and state wide qualifying West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), public exams for Junior Secondary School (JSS) III and Senior Secondary School (SS) III Students.
⦁ Regulation of the activities of private primary and secondary school proprietors.
⦁ Approval for the establishment of private nursery, primary, secondary and community schools.
⦁ Curriculum and textbook development and review for pre-Primary, primary and secondary schools.
⦁ Collaboration with Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and its agencies on education policies and their implementation.
⦁ Collaboration with Development Partners.
⦁ Participation at the National Council and Joint Consultative Committee on Education.
